Ramallah: A Palestinian teenager is suspected of murdering a Jewish man and wounding three others with a knife in a killing that has shaken the Palestinian capital.
The killing happened on Monday night when 17-year-old Abdulrahman al-Hassan stabbed Yosef Gharab, a 22-year old Palestinian, to death in a crowded street in Ramallah.
A video uploaded on Tuesday shows the teen fleeing the scene.
“He threw a knife, he said, and it hit the right side of my chest,” Gharac wrote on Twitter.
“I thought he would hit me in the head, but he just threw the knife in my chest and I went for my life,” Ghharab wrote on Facebook.
“We tried to stop him, but then he stabbed me in my head.
It was the most terrible pain I have ever felt.”
Palestinian media reported that Hassan was detained and released hours later.
A Palestinian security source told Al Jazeera that Hassan’s death is not linked to the incident and that he was released on the condition that he would not enter Jerusalem.
Hassam, a resident of the settlement of Bani Taba in the occupied West Bank, has been detained in the West Bank city of Hebron since the beginning of November.
